but when you pick New York City, you pick the Big Apple...'

General Business Hours
  • In the City that Never Sleeps you can find almost everything at any hour of the day!
  • Regular office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM but most of the stores are open till 8:00 or 9:00 PM.
  • Restaurants and bars are open till late at night.
  • It is always advised to check with the "locals" for accurate opening and closing hours...

Some More Tips
  • This is a huge city, so never ever leave your stuff unattended...
  • Only carry what you really need - leave your valuables in the hotel safe or at home.
  • The standard tipping is 15 to 20% in restaurants and taxi cab rides. Restaurant meals are taxed at 8.375%, so the locals just leave double the tax as a tip. Just remember that many of the service providers in the city depend on tips as part of their salary.
  • State tax is 8.375% but it does not apply to clothing and shoes that are less than $100.
  • Always compare prices. Two stores with the same product might have totally different prices...
