There are plenty of Currency Exchange places around 42nd St. and all over the city. However, always know the rate before using any of them:

- Regular office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM but most of the stores are open till 8:00 or 9:00 PM.
- Restaurants and bars are open till late at night.
- It is always advised to check with the "locals" for accurate opening and closing hours...
- This is a huge city, so never ever leave your stuff unattended...
- Only carry what you really need - leave your valuables in the hotel safe or at home.
- The standard tipping is 15 to 20% in restaurants and taxi cab rides. Restaurant meals are taxed at 8.375%, so the locals just leave double the tax as a tip. Just remember that many of the service providers in the city depend on tips as part of their salary.
- State tax is 8.375% but it does not apply to clothing and shoes that are less than $100.
